PilatesCon 2025: An Immersive Experience in Classical Pilates Education

What a weekend! PilatesCon 2025 brought teachers and movers together around a shared commitment to learning, refinement, and growth. Across three days, the focus stayed firmly on education that was intentional and rooted in the Classical Method, while also serving as a powerful reminder of the strength, connection, and shared purpose that live at the heart of the work. The experience didn't just inspire in the moment, it raised the standard for our own practice and the way we show up for our clients every day.

From November 19th–22nd, PilatesCon 2025 delivered an expansive lineup of continuing education workshops designed for every teacher ready to grow their expertise. Whether you joined us live or accessed the sessions on-demand through December 31st, the energy was palpable and focused on refinement, depth, and purpose.

We kicked things off with a Clinical Applications for Pilates Professionals session, a standout workshop that helped attendees elevate their assessment skills and apply Pilates in thoughtful, client-specific ways. This was a powerful workshop about understanding the intention behind every exercise we choose and how to apply it from a clinical perspective.

Across the weekend, we moved through sessions that stretched both our bodies and our perspectives:

Mat and Apparatus Innovation

  • Have a Ball with Your Mat Class with Cheryl Turnquist taught us creative ways to use props to enhance core engagement and challenge students at every level.
  • Super Advanced Mat Review & Archival Exercises with Kimberly Casto opened the door to advanced sequencing and historical material that deepened our understanding of the classical repertoire.
  • Foam Roller with Amie Cunha explored instability and feedback to refine control, coordination, and proprioception throughout the mat work.
  • Spine Corrector Challenge with Aubrey Johnson focused on articulation, support, and strength through intentional use of the apparatus.
  • Reformer Progressions with Atsko Fukada emphasized intelligent layering and sequencing to support strength, control, and clarity across levels.
  • Tower Progressions with Francesca Gorgone expanded how we approach vertical work, offering thoughtful progressions that support alignment, strength, and confidence on the Tower.
  • How to Format a One Hour Wunda Chair Session with Jenny Powell delivered clear structure and intention for building balanced, effective Chair sessions that challenge without overwhelming clients.

Teaching with Intent

  • Art of Teaching: Touch and Spotting with Cheryl Turnquist reminded us why presence, awareness, and skilled tactile cueing are essential tools in effective instruction.
  • How to Teach Group Apparatus Classes with Janice Kang offered practical strategies for managing flow, safety, and individual attention within a group setting.
  • Mat Modifications with Alexis Dugdale helped us rethink how to meet clients where they are while maintaining the integrity of the classical work.

Clinical Insight and Cross-Discipline Perspective

  • Clinical Applications for Pilates Professionals with Dr. Abhishek Agrawal grounded movement in assessment and observation, helping instructors make more informed choices for their clients.
  • Pilates for Yogis with Christine Nowicki explored the intersection of two movement disciplines, highlighting how elements of Pilates and yoga complement and inform each other.

Beyond Technique to Teaching Philosophy

  • Pilates for Teens with Amie Cunha supported instructors in adapting the work for younger bodies while reinforcing fundamentals that build lifelong movement habits.
  • Pilates for Stress Relief with Aubrey Johnson explored how breath, sequencing, and intentional movement support the nervous system and overall well-being.
  • The Four S's: Strength, Stretch, Stamina, and Stability with Bethanie Buckingham reinforced essential principles for creating balanced, effective sessions for every body.

And for those drawn to precision and postural detail, Explore Posture and Alignment with the Cadillac with Bethanie Buckingham provided a focused study of spinal organization and alignment through purposeful apparatus work.

Experience PilatesCon On Demand

One of the greatest benefits of PilatesCon 2025 is that all workshops are available on-demand through December 31st, 2025. Whether you weren't able to attend live or want to revisit your favorite sessions, you can access every class virtually from anywhere in the world. This means you can engage with the workshops at your own pace, returning to any session whenever you want, so the insights from the conference continue to shape your teaching long after it ends.

A Community That Moves Together

PilatesCon has always been about more than the workshops, it's about the shared experience of learning together. From recognizing familiar names on the screen to exchanging ideas during live sessions, we are reminded that as fitness professionals, we all share the same common goals of growth, skill development, and helping our clients move better. This collective commitment creates a sense of community that extends beyond the virtual classroom and strengthens how we show up in our own studios every day.

What truly sets PilatesCon apart is the level of education delivered throughout the weekend. Each session was designed with intention and practical insight that instructors can return to again and again. The material wasn't just inspiring in the moment, it was education meant to stay with you and shape how you teach, observe, and think about the work for years to come.

Carrying the Energy Forward

What came through loud and clear at PilatesCon 2025 was how much there still is to explore inClassical Pilates. Every session, whether technical or philosophical, pushed us to think with intention, teach with presence, and move with awareness. Whether you attended live or are watching on-demand before the year closes out, take a moment to reflect on what spoke to you most. What skill are you excited to bring back to your classes? What nuance of cueing or modification will transform how you interact with clients? These are the sparks that we strive for in every session.

Here's to taking what we learned and letting it shape our teaching in meaningful ways. The energy of PilatesCon doesn't end when the sessions do, it carries forward into the studio, the classroom, and every client interaction throughout the year.
