The Power Pilates Instructor Training Programs are unparalleled in the Pilates industry. These programs are designed for experienced teachers who have a wealth of teaching experience and would like to share their knowledge as a mentor to new burgeoning instructors. To qualify as an instructor trainer, candidates must complete one of these rigorous programs, after having been teaching a minimum number of hours in their practice.

The Instructor Training Masters Programs allow for extended additional study and growth as a teacher, on the journey to ultimately becoming a Teacher Trainer. After completing the application and filing a letter of intent, candidates have three years to audit the required programs, pass all evaluations, complete and submit an original research project to the board of review, pass a series of anatomy examinations and complete mentor coaching sessions.

There are two Masters programs through which candidates may select to apply:
• Foundational Educators (Mat and Reformer Only)
• Teacher Trainers (Mat, Apparatus and Continuing Education)

Those who complete this program will be eligible to teach all Power Pilates Mat and/or Reformer programs, and conduct associated oriented mentor sessions.

Those who complete this program will be designated with the Master Teacher Trainer status and are eligible to evaluate all FE and TT candidates.

Foundational Educator

Eligibility and Audition Process

Those who complete this program will be eligible to teach Beginner (Core Mat 1), Intermediate (Core Mat 2), Advanced Mat (Core Mat 3), and/or Reformer 1 instructor training programs at host studio locations internationally. Those with this status are also eligible to conduct mentor sessions online through the Power Pilates Mat Academy, and present mat-level continuing education at Power Pilates hosted and sponsored conferences.

Eligibility Requirements

To apply to be admitted as a Foundational Educator Candidate, the applicant must:

  • Have a high school diploma or its equivalent by the time they enroll
  • Have completed a Comprehensive Apparatus program of at least 450 hours (Comprehensive certificate need not be from Power Pilates)
  • Have taught a minimum of 1000 client hours over the past 3 years
  • Maintain a regular practice of Pilates in their own body
  • Have fluency in the language in which they teach

If you apply to this Masters program and are denied program admission, you can apply again after 12 months. A lifetime limit of 3 applications applies.

Audition Process

The candidate must:

  • Conduct an open level mat session with 2 bodies, instructing one student as a new beginner and one at the intermediate level
  • Following the client session, explain the exercises and modifications/variations chosen
  • Complete an advanced level mat self-practice session, putting themselves through the exercises within the limits of their safe ability
  • Following the self-practice session, explain the modifications/variations chosen
  • Give a 10 minute presentation on the 6 principles of pilates (as if to a group of apprentices)

Decision Outcomes

There are three possible outcomes to the audition process:

Admit

Candidate is accepted into the Foundational Educator Masters Program. Accepted candidates must be recommended by both the Master Teacher Trainer faculty after audition review and the Education Department's evaluation of the candidate's teaching record and supplemental materials.

Waitlist

Candidate is placed on a waitlist to enter the Foundational Educator Masters Program. Candidates are admitted from the waitlist at the discretion of the Education Department when openings arise in the candidate's region.

Deny

Following a review by the faculty of Master Teacher Trainers and the Education Department, the candidate is denied admission to the Foundational Educator Masters Program at this time. Denied candidates are encouraged to continue teaching and practicing and may apply again in the future.

Program Fee (upon acceptance) $550

Applicants must complete application form, including letter of intent. The letter of intent must summarize the applicant's background and why the applicant wishes to become a Foundational Educator.

Teacher Trainer

Eligibility and Audition Process

Those who complete this program will be eligible to teach all mat and apparatus-based teacher training programs at host studio locations internationally, including Comprehensive, Reformer and Tower intensives. Those with this status are also eligible to conduct mentor sessions online through the Power Pilates Mat Academy, and present Power Pilates continuing education courses at Power Pilates hosted conferences. These Teacher Trainers may also be sponsored by Power Pilates to author original continuing education material.

Eligibility Requirements

To apply to be admitted as a Teacher Trainer Candidate, the applicant must:

  • Have a high school diploma or its equivalent by the time they enroll
  • Have completed a Comprehensive Apparatus program of at least 450 hours (Comprehensive certificate need not be from Power Pilates)
  • Have taught a minimum of 3000 client hours over the past 5 years
  • Maintain a regular practice of Pilates in their own body
  • Have high fluency (writing and speaking) in the language in which they teach

If you apply to this Masters program and are denied program admission, you can apply again after 12 months. A lifetime limit of 3 applications applies.

Audition Process

The candidate must:

  • Conduct a private classical Beginner session, teaching to the body of the client
  • After the session, explain why the exercises were chosen for this client including any modifications required
  • Complete an intermediate level self-practice session (doing, not teaching): including 20-25 min Full Reformer (Intermediate Level), 15-20 min Mat (Intermediate level, up to Saw minimum), 10-15 min C (Pick 2-3 exercises on 2 apparatus that are for your special needs), 5 min Ending (Wall, Traditional, etc)
  • Following the self-practice session, explain the exercises chosen in C and any modifications required
  • Give a 10 minute presentation on the 6 principles of Pilates (as if to a group of apprentices)

Master Teacher Trainer

Eligibility and Audition Process

Those with this status are expected to provide leadership and guidance to the Pilates Teacher Training community, and maintain the lineage and heritage of the Method for future generations. They might be consulted for advice on methodology and philosophy, and also play a crucial role in preserving the tradition and values of Classical Pilates. Those who complete this program will be eligible to evaluate all new FE and TT candidates.

Eligibility Requirements

To apply to be admitted as a Master Teacher Trainer Candidate, the applicant must:

  • Have a current status of Teacher Trainer
  • Have accrued a minimum of 2500 Teacher Training hours
  • Have taught a minimum of 10000 client hours
  • Be knowledgeable in the super-advanced and archival exercises, and history of Pilates and Power Pilates
  • Be confirmed by the Power Pilates Curriculum Committee

Audition Process

  • By invitation only from the Power Pilates Managing Director. Candidates may be recommended to the Education Department for Master status by the Power Pilates Curriculum Committee.
